Angela entry into Eric's "Death"

First of all I have to say that I kept showing everybody this book because it was made so brilliantly. It's a really cool idea to fold up a book that way, Eric! 

As for my entry: 

My first idea was to have these little entities escaping, or transitioning, so that's what the ink drawings on the brown paper represent. Then when I glued the brown paper down and stood back, I realized that it looked like I had given the skull hair! Eeps! :/ 

It lookedike he had a bald head with two patches of hair on either side (in the states we call this hair style a hula skirt). Not really The look that I thought Eric would want for his skull... So I added some reddish brown tones to the top to pull it all together, or sort of create framing for the head. 

Angela's Book / Petr's Entry

I tinkered a lot with how to step into Angela's book and in the end I decided to draw a series of self portraits while setting myself for failure.

My first portrait I drew in Angela's sketchbook attached to a ceiling with my brush, pencil and pen attached to 1 & half meter long stick.

 My second portrait I drew left handedly. 

My third portrait I drew without seeing the sketchbook or the drawing in progress.

Eric's entry in Jeane's TCOHOKIES

Holy shit, that was a complicated word to spell!

In any event, I finally got around to posting on my entry. Petr and I have been working on a side project and I located some random stuff in my studio that was PERFECT for Jeane's book (I don't dare try to spell that word again...)

chackies? shochkeys? WTF?

Do pens and pencils I found while biking qualify as a small bauble or miscellaneous item? WTF is a bauble? Weird giant, pastel colored eyelets? Googly eyes? I hope so....

In any event, Petr used some googly-eyes in our project, then I recalled I had tons of them stashed away. OK, so this image of the spread is actually upside down, as all of you will subsequently recognize after me. Oh well.

OK, so there's some mica I collected while rock climbing and of course, what's an entry without some spray paint and glitter to top things off?!

Angela's entry into Rika's book, TRAVEL

This was meant to be posted for April. Ooopsieeee!  

Rika's theme is travel and since I've been missing the beautiful surroundings of my last two "homes" (Cornwall, England and Basel, Switzerland) my doodly entry is about escaping the city, and traveling to the countryside. I didn't consciously think about it at the time, but looking at it now, it's a mishmash of the two: the wild, rugged Cornish landscape, as well as the vantage point of looking out of a train window at the lush greenness of Switzerland. Riding on those pristine, super-efficient trains is one of my favorite memories.   ...Maybe that's what the swirly stuff is about? Or maybe it's just windy?  ;p

Eric, my entry for your Death theme is almost ready to post. Just to letcha know your baby is alive and well - terrible pun intended.

Jeane's entry in Jemina's book

Although it might be hard to see what is or isn't "moving" in my interpretation of movement in Jemina's book...it is the inside of my cappuccino machine.  After 15 years of wonderful coffee, it has stopped working. So I took the top off the machine, tried jiggling electrical wires, which of course did nothing.

 However, it did give me a great view of winding wires and tubes that produce the flow of hot, steamy water.  

Luckily for me there is hope that it can be repaired.  You may think, "who repairs anything today in our throw away society?".  I asked our lovely and very helpful school "vaktmester" / janitor if he might have a look at it.  So, fingers crossed, he will fix it!

I LOvE this theme. I felt comfortable enough to try anything, even if it was a total failure. For awhile I was convinced it was a total fail but I pushed and pulled enough and now...well, you decide! 

Jeane's entry in Petr's book, "Under the Skin"

It took some time for me to decide what to do in Petr's book.  Through brainstorming and looking at various sources on the internet about our body, I saw some images that were similar to marbled paper that I had made years ago. 

The brain and spine are obvious inspirations for anything to do with our bodies.  Because I had a back operation when I was 15 years old for scoliosis, the backbone is something that is quite familiar to me.
